Raptor

When Zack Norak's father, a paleontologist, joined a dig for dinosaur bones in Utah, Zack knew the expedition was a disaster waiting to happen. Why would any scientist waste his time on a bunch of skeletons? Even if these dinosaurs were called the "terrible lizards" of Utah, they were still just a bunch of old bones. But when Zack finds a giant egg that hatches a baby raptor, the teenager discovers there are more than dead bones at the dig. Soon he is face-to-face with mother raptor. Razor-sharp teeth flashing, mom is determined to get her baby back. And suddenly, a horrifying question is clawing at Zack's mind: What if there are more eggs? Paul Zindel, a Pulitzer Prize-winning author, is noted for his suspenseful books for young adults that combine science-fantasy and adventure.
