About
An expertly crafted alternative reality for an Australian legend.
The Kelly Gang's reign was believed to have ended in blood and fire at the Glenrowan Inn in June 1880. Ned Kelly survived the siege only to be hanged, while Dan Kelly, Joe Byrne and Steve Hart were believed to have perished in the flames.
But rumours soon emerged that Dan and Steve had survived, spirited away from the district by family and supporters. Over time, sightings and stories of their adventures grew into legend.
Steve Hart: The Last Kelly Standing imagines what might have happened if those rumours were true.
Following Steve beyond Glenrowan, Peter Long weaves historical events and fiction into an adventure spanning two continents and a formative period in Australia's history. At its heart is the remarkable mateship between Steve Hart and Dan Kelly-and the question of how far one man will go for his closest friend.
Hunted and forced to endure extraordinary danger and hardship, Steve must find a way forward while carrying a past that refuses to disappear.
Written and narrated by Peter Long, Steve Hart: The Last Kelly Standing is an Australian historical novel of bushrangers, survival, loyalty, adventure and enduring mateship.
