Capps is a graduate of Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary (M.Div. with Biblical Languages), Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary (D.Min. in Pastoral Theology), and is a Ph.D. candidate at Ridley College in Melbourne, Australia.
