Jordan Laurent's scheme to prevent her parents' divorce is on the fast track when alcoholic Mamma falls at a prestigious New Orleans tea party. With Mamma in rehab and Dad living with the "other woman," hopeful ballerina, Jordan, finds herself exiled far away from glittering New Orleans to rural Summerfield. In a dogtrot shack with a stranger called Dellie and her eccentric family, Jordan is frantic to escape before she misses her chance to keep her family intact. Feeling like a prisoner, she dances her frenzied frustration in the dusty yard beneath the Summerfield moon. Travel back in time to mid-twentieth century with memorable characters, who bring to life a powerful story of abandonment, longing, and despair. Laughter and tears accompany this Southern tale as Dellie's devotion and sterling values ease Jordan's journey from the pain of abandonment, longing, and despair toward acceptance, hope, and the true self-worth that no amount of privilege can buy.
