The AUDACIOUS WOMEN anthology highlights creative work that embraces the concept of women fully occupying their space, having agency, and trailblazing the roads for more powerful futures. Smart and celebratory, these works of poetry, fiction, plays, and creative non-fiction showcase work that makes us laugh, cry, and think deeply about the ways women come to the world, embracing women with three-dimensionality and diversity in literature. A blend of canonical public domain authors (Zora Neale Hurston, Kate Chopin) and current literary writers, this anthology examines women's evolving definitions and growing possibilities in modern art. From a story by Zora Neale Hurston that explores a vibrant girl child in the South flouting convention, to a play by Allison Fradkin, to the new lyrical stylings of magical realist flash fiction by Shaindel Beers, we have something special here: A book that celebrates and invites women to delight in strong womanhood itself--and possibly heralds a harbinger of the change to come for the paradigms under which we live our bold, audacious lives.
