Black Preaching: Hear My Cry, Hear My Call brings together homileticians from the church and the academy to discuss the power, promise, and pitfalls of black preaching. Drawing from a range of traditions and perspectives, the nine contributors grapple with key questions about the heart of black preaching, how to articulate its "cry" and "call" now and in the future, how to interact with its rich heritage and complex history, how to engage its hermeneutical, rhetorical, and performative dimensions, and how to avoid current pitfalls and embrace future possibilities.
