Then, Brigham was in the hospital after his attempt to take down corpse-eating ogres. But things are definitely not back to normal. Well, monster-hunting normal. Not only are the rules changing, now the Ambrosius Clan militia is taking on paying clients. What happened to taking down monsters for the sake of humanity? The job takes Halsey and her cousin to the Grand Bazaar in Istanbul, Turkey. Is it a stroke of luck that Meemaw gave Halsey a contact to "ask the living records" about the changes in the supernatural world? And just what did Halsey create with that copper orb? How do the Ambrosius Clan militia's two best monster-hunters defeat an invincible chimera that can't be killed by military-grade weapons or natural causes? And what happens when a terrifying beast with three heads, fire breath, and no discernible weaknesses grows wings overnight? The monster now has all the advantages. After Plans A, B, and C fail, it looks like Halsey and Brigham are about to meet the same fate. Unless our hero, Halsey can pull out a final Hail Mary move with the copper orb's strange magic neither elemental fully understands.
