She only meant to make her ex look twice. Then the wrong man looked first.
At forty-four, Giselle Dawkins is done being gracious. Done smiling through her ex's new marriage like it did not cost her anything. Done being the dependable one, the woman expected to make every awkward moment easier for everyone except herself.
So when the family gathers for her grandson's birthday, Giselle buys an influencer's designer castoffs, gets her hair right, and walks into the party ready to disturb one man's peace.
The problem is, the man watching is not her ex. It's Jarrett Simmons. Twenty-nine, fine as hell, and a pro basketball player between seasons. Jarrett knows better than to feed the headlines, but Giselle is hard to ignore and even harder to leave alone.
What should have been one reckless night keeps finding reasons to become another. Soon, petty revenge has turned into something hotter, softer, and much harder to keep to themselves. When the truth gets out, everyone has something to say about a forty-four-year-old grandmother, a younger athlete, and a relationship neither of them planned to explain.
Giselle Dawkins came to disturb her ex's peace. She did not expect Jarrett Simmons to become the one disturbing hers.
