The world is in a dark night. Imbalance in many areas of our lives - masculine and feminine, material and spiritual, conscious and unconscious - has contributed to immense suffering, both within and without. To bring this incongruence into harmony in ourselves, we must reclaim the discarded qualities we have seen as other than who we are. This is the quest of the perilous dark night journey. To heal our fragmented earth, we must first become whole individuals who are then capable of contributing to a whole world.
This book names the current dark night dis-ease and frames a process for navigating the passage. Using her own lost feminine story as well as other examples, the author leads us through the stages with a compelling blend of matter-of-fact and mystical. Many of us beyond life's midpoint descend into darkness due to loss of a job, a relationship, good health, or an awakening to the shallowness of our inner being. Rather than floundering in this confusing morass or numbing it with addictions, Dark Night offers an optimistic alternative that normalizes the experience and provides practical pathways and coaching guidance to light the route to wholeness.
