This book offers a wide-ranging, detailed, and pleasant portrait of the author's multiple interests and experiences in growing up and reaching hundreds of thousands of people on three continents. He is known through his television documentaries, books, theatrical productions; hundreds of talks as a Fulbright scholar and through U.S. State Department speaker programs; and in diversity leadership workshops for the U.S. Department of Defense at various military bases.
The reader will also find perceptive social commentary about U.S. life in the 1940s and 1950s, social changes in the United States from those years to the present, ties, and his insights into Central European countries emerging from communist domination. Lighthearted observations about shore birds, sea turtles, and people's summer pastimes add another dimension to this highly readable book.
