Faith Under Fire: A Memoir of Conviction and Survival
by Scott Hayes
On September 12, 2024, a pro-Israel rally in Massachusetts was shattered by a terrorist attack. U.S. Army veteran Scott Hayes made a split-second decision that saved lives - but instead of gratitude, he was thrust into a storm of headlines, prosecutors, and relentless public scrutiny.
In this powerful veteran memoir, Hayes traces his journey from Brookline, Massachusetts, through the battlefields of Bosnia, Kosovo, and Iraq, and finally to Israel under rocket fire. With unflinching honesty, he recounts his evolution from soldier to survivor, from a man shaped by duty to one tested by the courtroom and the weight of public opinion.
Faith Under Fire is more than a military survival story. It is a soldier's true story of conviction, courage, and consequence - a testament to standing firm when silence would be easier. Part battlefield memoir, part courtroom drama, and part spiritual journey, this book explores themes of faith, resilience, and the cost of moral clarity.
For readers of memoirs of survival, military nonfiction, and accounts of faith and conviction, Hayes's story resonates far beyond one moment in time. It asks urgent questions: What would you risk for your beliefs? What price would you pay for the truth?
This gripping account of a veteran's courage in the face of terror and injustice is a reminder that survival is not just about what happens on the battlefield, but about the choices made afterward - when the fight for one's integrity begins.
