Synopsis: Paul Undres, anti-hero and protagonist, takes on the VA on the day of 9/11, seeking shelter from his crack usage, while the Twin Towers are falling down. From there he flits off to Safeplace, a transition house, and finally to Avon Park, a dual diagnosis treatment facility. Paul doesn't listen well but writes well and will read to whoever will listen while ignoring them entirely. His journal is dark and foreboding and his present peregrination is sad and pathetic. Nonetheless, he recovers only to find the world as mundane as he had feared.
