I took my body backAt twenty years old, Becca's life changes in a single moment.A diagnosis of multiple sclerosis turns everything she thought she knew about her future upside down. Suddenly, the life she had imagined is replaced by hospital rooms, tests, injections, uncertainty, fear, and a body she no longer fully trusts. But this is not a story about giving up.It is a story about learning how to live again.Through thirteen years of living with multiple sclerosis-and later facing a second diagnosis of Lyme disease-Rebeka discovers that life after diagnosis can still be filled with love, motherhood, adventure, mountains, friendship, and dreams. She learns to listen to her body instead of fighting against it. She learns that rest is not weakness, that saying no can be an act of courage, and that the greatest victories are often the ones nobody else sees. Then she finds the mountains.Hiking becomes more than exercise. It becomes her therapy, her escape, her challenge, and eventually a way of finding herself again. From the trails of Pohorje to Begunjščica and beyond, every climb becomes a reminder that the hardest mountain is often the one inside us.When she sets herself a goal to climb Triglav, Slovenia's highest mountain, the challenge becomes something much bigger than reaching a summit. It becomes a promise to the frightened young woman she once was-the girl lying in a hospital bed, wondering what her future would look like.Along the way, Rebeka becomes a mother, learns to protect her boundaries, confronts the stigma surrounding chronic illness, and discovers a strength she never knew she possessed.I took my body back is an honest and deeply personal memoir about illness, fear, motherhood, resilience, nature, and the decision to keep moving forward. It is for anyone who has ever looked at their life after a diagnosis, a loss, a setback, or a life-changing event and wondered:"What now?"Rebeka's answer is simple:Life is not over.It may be different. It may be harder. But it can still be beautiful.Sometimes, the diagnosis is not the end of your story.Sometimes, it is where your real life begins.
