In 1996 the prominent human rights lawyer, Sam Bellamy, dies unexpectedly. His grieving wife and daughters, living in wealthy comfort in an idyllic Oxfordshire village, discover that they are not his only heirs. Sam had a second family in war-torn and disintegrating Yugoslavia. And he leaves behind a small boy, who is now an orphan.The family is torn apart as Sam's daughter, Louisa, sets out to find and save her half-brother.
