About
Nick the Chosen One is a story about a beautiful rooster growing up in a suburban home in Sydney, Australia. He has a turbulent early life.
In a backyard full of fruit trees, vegetables, and free-ranging chooks, a little red hen named Meg dreams of hatching her chicks. With Rod's help, Meg finally gets her chance-but not all eggs are meant to hatch, and one special chick will rise above the rest.
Meet Nick: part misfit, part marvel, and 100% rooster. With a voice that won't quit and feathers that gleam, Nick is loud, proud, and impossible to ignore. Nick has a narrow escape from a sneaky fox and a close encounter with the neighbour who can't sleep because of Nicks loud crowing every morning.
Nick was the chick with the loudest crow,
Up before dawn with a cock-a-doodle-doo show.
Too loud for the city-but too special to eat,
So off he went on a farm-bound retreat.
As he journeys from backyard chaos to country calm, he meets a giraffe named Zarafa, and finds his true place in the world.
This funny and heartfelt tale about clucky dreams, unusual neighbours, and what it really means to be chosen will delight young readers-and their grown-ups too.
