No Permission Needed is the gripping memoir of a woman who turned defiance into a masterclass in resilience. As a student protester, she narrowly escaped the brutal martial law of the Marcos regime. In America, she conquered the male-dominated world of science, becoming a research chemist, an inventor, and a patent specialist. On the front lines of activism, she co-founded a feminist group to champion human rights. Yet, her fiercest battles were fought in the quiet dark of her own life. From the shattering fallout of divorce and a desperate suicide attempt to a miraculous triumph over cancer with a mere 5% survival rate, her journey reveals the unyielding power of the human spirit. Seeking the ultimate truth, she entered Divinity School, embraced Buddhism, and taught meditation to inmates in a Minnesota male correctional facility. Spanning continents, revolutions, and the deep landscapes of the soul, this book is an urgent, inspiring call to action.
