What connects the ancient parish registers of All Saints Laxfield in Suffolk to the quiet, snow-dusted farms of Lachute, Quebec? How do the ordinary, everyday choices of our ancestors ripple through time to shape who we are today?
In Our Roots, author Gordon invites readers on a meticulously researched journey through the intertwined histories of the Lummis, Coffin, Patenaude, Garcin, and Balcom families. This is not merely a collection of names and dates; it is a living tapestry of survival, migration, and devotion. Readers will discover: • • The epic migration from the historic soil of 18th-century England to the pioneering landscapes of 19th-and 20th-century Canada. • Intimate portraits of ancestors who wore many hats, from school teachers and machinists to farmers and soldiers who served in the trenches of World War I. • The profound, quiet strength of family matriarchs whose extraordinary dedication left a legacy far greater than they ever claimed. • A deeply personal exploration of heritage that bridges the gap between historical records and the emotional truths of family lore.
Whether you are a dedicated genealogist, a descendant seeking to understand your roots, or a lover of historical family sagas, this book offers a masterclass in preserving the past.
