About

Pyotr Nikolaevich Krasnov (1869–1947) was a talented military historian, writer, and lieutenant general whose life reflected a difficult and tragic era. Krasnov was not only an outstanding military leader, a veteran of three wars, and the ataman of the Great Don Army, but also an active participant in the Civil War, raising the Cossacks as part of the negotiations against the Bolsheviks in 1918.

After emigrating to Germany in 1920, Krasnov devoted himself to literary work, leaving behind a rich legacy: travel diaries, memoirs, works on military psychology, historical research, and novels. His works represent natural styles, deep elaboration of historical details, and a unique atmosphere.

This edition presents the novel "Tsesarevna", dedicated to one of the most dramatic periods in the history of Russia - the reign of Empress Anna Ioannovna, the regency of Anna Leopoldovna and the accession to the throne of Elizabeth Petrovna, the daughter of Peter the Great.

Krasnov masterfully depicts the atmosphere of the 18th century, vividly depicting court intrigues, negotiations for power and the fates of historical figures. The pages of the novel are filled with the figures of famous statesmen: Count and Field Marshal Alexei Grigorievich Razumovsky, the Shuvalov brothers, A. P. Bestuzhev-Ryumin, M. V. Lomonosov and many others.

"Tsesarevna" is not just a historical novel, but a reflection on power, human ambitions and their consequences for the entire country. Krasnov, with his deep knowledge and talent as a writer, creates a lively and fascinating portrait of the era, which still causes controversy and interest.

The book presented in this volume will be a godsend for lovers of old prose, connoisseurs of deeply worked out plots and vivid characters. This edition is made taking into account the best traditions of translation and editing in order to convey the atmosphere and style of the original as accurately as possible.
