The murder occurs within the fictional small town of Goldfisch Landing, nestled in Big Fish County. The main character, Sean Herring, attorney-at-law, has a secret he feels he must hide from everyone, most of all from his homophobic family members and so-called friends from his past. No one must find out because some can misconstrue his gender identity as worse than coming out of the closet.
