Detective Joe McCormick has never enjoyed conventions, but this one comes with an unexpected complication. Scheduled to lead seminars on undercover work, Joe arrives at the hotel only to discover a booking error has left him sharing a room. The name listed is familiar: Arnie Baxter, likely connected to a former colleague. When Joe enters the room to find a woman staring back at him from the other bed, both are equally stunned. Arnette Baxter had registered under the nickname she has used most of her life, and the hotel made its own assumptions. Now, with no rooms available and no easy solution, they face an awkward dilemma. Determined to avoid unnecessary attention, especially among fellow officers, Joe and Arnette agree to make the best of an unusual situation. After all, they are not required to spend every moment together. But sometimes, the most unexpected encounters lead to consequences neither of them could have planned.
