Shadow Companion tells the life story of Hymers Wilson, beginning in the hills of Hanover, Jamaica, and continuing as a one-year-old member of the Windrush generation, that is, young men and women who arrived predominantly from the Caribbean to the UK between 1948 and the beginning of the 1970s. Throughout his journey to England, the United States, and Canada, Hymers has frequently encountered the shadow of racism lingering in his path. In spite of these challenges, Hymers shares his experiences and reflections on coping and thriving despite this persistent companion, all while maintaining resilience and faith in God. His journey helps readers discover the secret of a good life, wherever the journey may go.
