Evan Tanner flies into the Loftis system to repossess the yacht Surrender Dorothy. Instead, the authorities seize his ship--and every other arriving vessel. The world teeters on the verge of civil war. Evan must escape imprisonment--or worse--as the government flails in panic and rebel forces strike back. Most of all, he must find a means of fleeing the system before all-out war begins. Will Tate grew up in a small southern Virginia town very much like the ones described in fiction. He is intimately familiar with the culture one finds in such places, and the personalities who inhabit them.
