One woman's courage changes a nation.
In an alternate post-Civil War America, Naomi, a formerly enslaved woman of extraordinary intellect, beauty, and spiritual strength, inherits her white father's vast Alabama plantation. The inheritance ignites fury in her embittered white half‑brother, who believes the land-and its power-should have been his. Stripped of privilege and desperate for revenge, he aligns himself with the newly formed Ku Klux Klan to seize the plantation by force.
But Naomi is not alone.
Sam, a former Marine and Special Operations soldier from the 2030s, is sent back in time through a mysterious portal by Hope, a divine messenger with a singular command: stop evil at its root. Armed with modern knowledge, advanced combat skills, and a fierce moral code, Sam becomes Naomi's protector and ally. Together, they unite a small but determined band of formerly enslaved men and women, transforming the plantation into a fortress of resistance and hope.
As violent threats escalate, Naomi's leadership reshapes the balance of power. Each hard‑won victory strengthens her reputation, sparking whispers that she may be more than a landowner-perhaps a prophet. Her influence soon reaches the Governor of Alabama and even President Abraham Lincoln, who, in this reimagined history, survives an assassination attempt. When Lincoln visits the plantation, Naomi delivers a radical vision of equality-not only for Black Americans, but for all women as well. When Lincoln warns that she asks for too much, Naomi replies, "Mr. President, too much has been taken."
Her words ignite a movement whose consequences stretch far beyond her lifetime.
At the heart of this transformation is the deep and improbable bond between Naomi and Sam. In a quiet meadow far from violence and politics, they share their stories-the scars of slavery, war, orphanhood, and loss. What begins as shared survival grows into a love that defies time itself, bridging centuries, two worlds, and the fragile hope of a new America.
This is a sweeping, genre‑bending novel of historical revision, time travel, faith, resistance, and love-where justice is reclaimed, destinies are rewritten, and one woman's courage changes the future of a nation.
