The Becoming traces one woman's journey from the depths of darkness into hard-won light. Arranged in four acts-The Hollow, The Reckoning, The Awakening, and The Bloom-these 26 poems move through addiction and despair, through the exhausting grace of motherhood, through the slow work of becoming whole, and finally into a love that feels like diving into the unknown without fear.
Raw, unflinching, and ultimately luminous, Sarah Reitz writes with the honesty of someone who has learned that feeling everything-the sharp edges and the warmth alike-is what it means to be alive. This is poetry for anyone finding their way from who they were to who they are becoming.
