Often, I find myself wondering if I might be the Grim Reaper-how else could I be so consistently entangled with death? Back when I used to watch *Detective Conan*, I often felt that Kogoro Mouri was a man defined by both tragedy and fortune: it was death that brought him fame, yet it was also death that tethered him to a never-ending series of fatal incidents. It is as if death follows him wherever he goes-much like what Inspector Shiratori once remarked to him: "Why does it seem that wherever you are, death is sure to follow?"
