This book is targeted towards those intending to enter or already in their early years of ministry. The burnout rate for newly minted ministers is alarming, and the church, already facing a shortage, cannot afford to lose competent candidates due to improper preparation. The general approach this book takes is that preaching education, even that received at the graduate level, is good and necessary but often insufficient alone to ready a prospective preacher for the grind of daily servanthood within the church. Speaking from my own early experience, I reflect on my personal list of things-I-wish-I-knew in order to formulate an easy-to-read handbook that might empower these faithful few to solidify their role and perhaps rediscover the passion and divine calling that led them into ministry in the first place.
