British sleuth Patrick Dawlish heads to the United States to find his missing wife in this Wild West crime thriller from the Edgar Award–winning author.
It's been four weeks since Patrick Dawlish has heard from his wife Felicity, who's on a trip across the United States to visit friends in Hollywood. The last place she was seen was in Arizona, where her tour guide was found at the bottom of the Grand Canyon. Dawlish isn't the only person looking for Felicity. Local authorities are, too, and suspect her of murder . . .
In an unfamiliar country of wide-open spaces, blazing hot sun, and hardened locals, Dawlish has his work cut out for him. But since no one knows his reputation as a brilliant detective and one-time Secret Service ace, he can fly under the radar. Never has a job been more truly his-and his alone. Pitted against a desolate land and desperate men, he'll have to draw on every resource he possesses-physical and mental-to find the one woman he's ever loved . . .
