Rooted in Eurocentric and North American beliefs, conventional social work theory increasingly fails to address the interconnected, global nature of contemporary social problems. Bringing together scholars and practitioners from across environmental studies, gender studies, philosophy, anthropology and beyond, this edited collection forges a transdisciplinary, decolonial framework for reimagining social work education and practice. It draws on Indigenous knowledges, postcolonial perspectives and the lived realities of communities affected by conflict and migration to model what genuine academic activism looks like.
Structured to support teaching, with learning objectives, case study analyses, chapter summaries and further reading, this is an invaluable resource for educators, students and practitioners committed to decolonised, critically engaged approaches to social work.
