"In the midst of the American Civil War, a shadowy faction has emerged: The Triangle. Headed by a mysterious figure, they scheme to destabilize the United States by orchestrating random acts of sabotage, further inflaming the passions of war and ensuring that neither side can claim victory. Caught in the middle is Devon Chambers, the daughter of a renowned British cryptographer. When she learns that her father has been kidnapped and is being held for a staggering one million dollars in gold she's left with no choice but to join the Confederacy. She takes on the delicate role of a cryptographer-spy, entering into a game of lies and deception that's only getting more treacherous by the day. Only adding to the chaos is Levi Mills, a Union Colonel whose true identity is shrouded in secrecy; he's actually the head of President Lincoln's secret intelligence network. Tasked with the perilous mission of transporting one million dollars in gold, he must navigate agents sent by the Triangle as well as a beautiful cryptographer determined to contaminate his codes and undermine his every effort."
Marie Wilkinson started writing Victoria's Messenger in the early 80s after having a shocking dream about a carriage carrying hundreds of pounds of gold. After writing the scene, more dreams came with new characters and a running plotline. Marie believes that these dreams were of a past life and this entire book is not a work of fiction but a real story that happened in our history. Whether you believe her story to be true or not, Victoria's Messenger is a compelling spy novel laced with both romance and espionage alike.
