How did the message of the Cross move from a small group of witnesses to a force that reshaped civilizations-and how did the Crescent, the Sword, and the Scroll alter that story?
Wait: Backup - The Cross • The Crescent • The Sword • The Scroll examines the historical collision of faith, power, empire, conquest, preservation, and reform. Mitchell D. Pinckard follows the evidence across the Resurrection, the growth of the early church, the rise of Islam, the Crusades, the preservation and translation of Scripture, and the Reformation.
Rather than treating history as a collection of dates or defending inherited narratives, the book asks forensic questions: What testimony survives? Who controlled the record? What changed when political power joined religious authority? Which claims withstand examination, and which depend upon assumptions repeated for generations?
Written for ordinary readers rather than specialists, this volume connects documents, events, sacred claims, and human motives to show how Christianity and Islam developed within the pressures of real history. It invites believers and skeptics alike to examine the evidence without fear, recognizing that honest faith does not require hiding from difficult facts.
This is not persuasion. It is cross-examination-where tradition may testify, but the reader must examine the fingerprint.
