A Very Long Night is a collection of twenty-seven short literary stories on various life situations, many with surreal twists. Some of the major themes covered herein are obsession, regret, and redemption. In one story, a traveler falls in love with a lovely widow whose husband was murdered. Later, he begins to suspect that she was the murderer. In another story, a dying old man finds redemption in a stray cat that mysteriously appears on his fire escape. In yet another story, a young woman discovers a horrible secret about her father after arriving in a distant city to attend her mother's funeral.These stories are appropriate for older teens as well as adults. Charles Rocha is a graduate of Central Washington University in Ellensburg, Washington, with a B.A. in English and an M.A. in British Literature. Currently he works as an ESL instructor in the city of Dnipro, Ukraine. He has had stories and essays published in small journals and online story websites.
