The world is not what it seems. For centuries, The Admagus Court and their Rashalt Empire have ruled over the continent using the inherited and overwhelming magic present within their sorcerous blood. As the generations thin the potency of their innate magics, the need for more sorcerous blood rises, and the Court will stop at nothing to slake that endless thirst. Uprisings and revolts across the empire serve as little more than sources of fresh blood for the infamous Bloodworks, and as entertainment for bored nobles who live far too long. Forces of pure chaos try to break through this world's bleak stranglehold of order, but reality itself might fall apart first. Ten years ago, a notorious mage and thief named Cast caused a cataclysmic event within the Capital of Rashalt, and took the opportunity to steal something irreplaceable from the Empire that owns everything. After a decade of being hunted by glory-seeking nobles through the golden sands of Mycennea, the Thief Cast had left behind most of his rational mind. With a grand and stupid plan to take down the Empire from within, Cast decides to turn himself in at the crater city of Vashar, where he finds his infamy has grown as much as his insanity. That unfortunate reputation draws a ruthless group of rebels to him, just to get in the way and ruin all his amazing plans that were DEFINETELY going to work out. For sure, they were all totally solid, you don't even know. He wasn't just making things up as he went along, because that would be a crazy thing to do, and Castilliene is certainly not cr-... Never mind.
Meanwhile, a tormented soldier and a mysterious boy with magic unlike anything ever witnessed are tasked with tracking down the Thief and the rebellion that wants him, as a divine being of pure madness reveals himself to be pulling so many of the dire strings behind it all. What begins as yet another bright and brief flash of rebellion, turns both darker and more grand, as the hidden city of Vashar comes to learn why you should never trust a god. Even a pretty one.
