La imagen es un campo problemático en el que conviven percepciones, emociones e ideas. La imagen es a la vez soporte técnico-material y forma expresiva simbólica, y a través de ella podemos trazar universos de sentido que comunican y transfieren diversas temporalidades del devenir humano. Por ello, la imagen exige aproximaciones interdisciplinarias, desde las cuales establecer diálogos y alianzas conceptuales. No es lo mismo la imagen pictórica que la fotográfica o audiovisual, por ejemplo, pues todas constituyen campos de problematización complejos y exigen esfuerzos semióticos y filosóficos distintos. Así, la imagen no es algo "que se piensa" sino, precisamente, una forma del pensamiento mismo. Este libro establece un panorama de reflexión sobre el carácter complejo de lo visual, según una postura crítica, que nos guíe por el pensamiento semioestético, hasta una dimensión postsemiótica de la imagen.

It is both a technical-material support and a symbolic expressive form, through which we can shape universes of meaning that convey and transfer diverse temporalities of the human evolution. Therefore, the image requires interdisciplinary approaches from which to establish conceptual alliances and dialogues. A pictorial image is not the same as a photographic or audiovisual image, since they all constitute complex fields of problematization and require different semiotic and philosophical efforts. The image is thus not something "that is thought" but, precisely, a form of thought itself. This book provides a viewpoint on the complex nature of the visual from a critical stance, which guides us through semio-aesthetic thinking, to a post-semiotic dimension of the image.
