Are you tired of attending pointless meetings? Want to know how to fix meetings to make them more productive? If yes, this book will help.
Let's be honest-most meetings suck. They're too long, don't accomplish much, and leave everyone frustrated. Sound familiar?
Whether you are leading a meeting or attending someone else's, this book is a practical, no-fluff guide to making meetings shorter, more productive, and (dare I say it) less painful.
Drawing on experiences from more than 15,000 meetings, this book delivers a straightforward, no-nonsense approach to avoiding the most common meeting problems and fixing things when the meeting goes off track. Lessons for when you're LEADING a meeting
• Three words that improve productivity and results. • Simple preparation activities that can cut a meeting in half. • How to keep conversations on track. • Find the balance between rigid control and chaotic free-for-alls. • Lead meetings that people actually want to attend.
Techniques to help you as a PARTICIPANT
• Dealing with blank invitations. • Questions to ask when the point of a meeting isn't clear. • How to stop other people rambling. • Leaving a meeting when your part is done. • How to interrupt someone politely. • Dealing with dominating personalities. • And much more...
If you use the techniques in this book, you'll learn how to run effective meetings and fix meetings you find yourself stuck in. You'll be able to get more done with fewer people, and your meetings will be shorter, more productive, and less frustrating. There's even a chance you'll hear the rarest of phrases, "That meeting was actually useful."
There is a place between rigid agendas and a chaotic free for all, where meetings are just the right length, only include the people that need to be there, conversations stay on track, and all the activities help produce valuable output. That place is the meeting sweet spot.
