About

Alley liked donuts. She liked them a lot. Her favorite ones were those Granddad bought when he visited her all the way from England. So she always called them 'Granddad's donuts!' This story tells what happens when a kind little girl shares a special donut treat with her pets at the time: two dogs, four cats, a tiny hermit crab, a little snake, a chubby squirrel, a plump goldfish and two scruffy looking dogs visiting from England! Alley called me when she was just five years old and when I picked up the phone, she said. 'Hi Granddad, I've got a new donut.' And with that, she promptly hung up! This phone call started me on the road to writing children's books, and I must thank my granddaughter Alley for this. Those unforgettable words naturally had to become the title of my first book, so, thank you Alley for being the inspiration of my first attempts at writing children's books. I hope you enjoy it, and remember Alley, and all you kids out there, never, ever be tempted to show a delicious donut to your pet!
