La Rage de l'expression de Francis Ponge (1899-1988) a été publié en 1952, chez Mermod, éditeur suisse romand à Lausanne. Les sept pièces qui composent cette mosaïque verbale ont été écrites bien avant, de 1938 à 1944. La sixième d'entre elles, intitulée « Le carnet du bois de pins », a fait l'objet d'un livre, paru préalablement chez ce même éditeur, en 1947.
