About

Patt Welsh grew up and lived in West Terre Haute, Indiana until 1962 when she married her husband, Wally, and moved to Kearneysville, WV. She immediately became involved within the community-serving as a leader with Evergreen 4H, becoming a member of Grace Reformed United Church of Christ's congregation, Women's Guild, and Consistory, volunteering many years as Art Department chair and building superintendent for the Jefferson County Fair, and participating as an active member and supporter of various Relay for Life activities in the Eastern Panhandle. Over the years, Patt combined her interests in community and writing to serve as a correspondent for The Martinsburg Journal, The Spirit of Jefferson, and The Shepherdstown Chronicle newspapers. She has participated in Poetry Corner and the Shepherd University Appalachian Writers Seminar. Patt combined her many years of work experience, community involvement, and lifelong interest in learning to earn an Associate Applied Science (AAS) degree from Shepherd and Blue Ridge Community College in 2009. In 2016, Patt retired from Shepherd University where she was actively involved in many aspects of campus life.
