About

A master of late Romanticism, Gustavo Adolfo Bécquer (Spain, 1836-1870) is one of the most famous and celebrated authors across Spain and Latin America. His works (including Leyendas and Rimas) have been best sellers since their original publication in the 19th century. A precursor, with Rosalía de Castro, of Spanish Modernism, his natural style influenced Antonio Machado and Juan Ramón Jiménez, among others.

Rimas includes 76 poems published between 1859 and 1870, and is a classic of Spanish literature. Bécquer's poetry is colorful and vibrant but modern and clear, making it a great choice for readers with a good command of the language.
