About

If you want to learn how to play Texas Hold'em and have no idea which book to buy look no further. This is the book for you!

This book is written as if it were an instructional manual for a family board game. It includes the basic rules of the game, strategies, and situational examples for the beginner and amateur poker player. This book does not include personal stories of the author, nor his successes or failures at the poker table. It does not include "bad beat stories" or overly complicated hand recaps that do nothing but fill pages with useless information. What it does provide the reader with is a clear understanding of all the facets of the game itself.

In this book you can expect to learn the basics of the game including hand rankings, hand combinations and how to get started hosting your own game. You will learn the art of betting, which includes pre-flop betting, and betting after the flop and beyond. Evaluating hand strengths and understanding the importance of position, as well as, evaluating the board texture are explained at every betting round. Betting strategies, bankroll management, betting patterns, pot odds and expected values are explained in detail with examples.

You will learn how to evaluate your starting hands, your opponent's hand ranges, and how to adjust your strategy based on table position and opponents. Later chapters will teach you when to play aggressive or tight in both pre-flop and post flop positions, when to continuation bet, when to bluff, and how to recognize a bluff. You will learn how to exploit opponent's weaknesses, and how to create and exploit a table image as well as understanding the importance of timing and position.

Additional chapters include Tournament Play and its dynamics, On-line Play and how it's different from playing live and in person. The final chapter has a glossary of poker terms, and the appendices have hand ranking charts, probability charts, and recommended reading and resources for further study.
