About

More than 200 gloriously delicious recipes for wholesome, home-style Greek dishes and desserts!

Decades ago, a group of women from Saint Paul's Church in Hempstead, New York, decided to put together a Greek cookbook, to preserve some of the traditional recipes and at the same time raise money for their church. They called themselves the Recipe Club. They soon had a hit on their hands-and followed up with a second cookbook full of hearty, delicious Greek food. They were even featured in a New York Times article by famed food writer Florence Fabricant.

Collecting the best recipes from these collector's-item cookbooks, this new volume celebrates a cuisine based on wholesome ingredients, with the emphasis on fresh vegetables, olive oil, and other natural foods. Some updates have been made-like shortening prep times where possible and trimming calorie counts in desserts-but the Recipe Club's goal remains the same: supporting their beloved church and sharing delicious traditional dishes. And as always, they wish you kalli orexi-"good appetite!"
