About

The Palindrome Adventure is the story of a journey that tests the premise of the Greek philosopher Heracleitus, which says, You cannot step twice into the same river, for other waters are ever flowing onto you. In the palindrome year of 2002, the author boarded a Qantas flight for a trip around the world, revisiting familiar places.
The first was Nairobi, where he had been in the 1960s, right after Kenya won its independence from the British Empire, where he spent most of his time in the African bush with people who lived there, when game of every variety and species were ubiquitous. The second was Berlin. He first went there as a US Army Intelligence analyst, when it was still a divided city, before the Wall was even built, let alone torn down. Next was London, where he had also been in the 1950s. He then returned to New York where he began his careers as writer, actor and producer in the 1960s and 70s. And finally to his hometown in Ohio where he learned the meaning of the expression: dysfunctional family.
The Palindrome Adventure is a different kind of travel experience, where past and present collided with the unimaginable, proving that Heracleitus was correct: other waters had not just flowed, but cascaded onto him.
