There were three names written down, but the fourth was unknown. A name so painful that it had been scored through. A black scar where once the truth had been spelled out. The Reverend's role had been clear, but for what he had done, he would have to suffer… When a vicar is reported missing just days before Christmas and two churches are burned to the ground, the police know there is only one person that can help them solve the case: Head of the Ritualistic Behavioural Crime unit, Dr Harrison Lane. An expert on ritualistic and religious crime profiling, Harrison uses tracking skills taught to him by his Native American stepfather to follow the trail of clergymen's bodies displayed in sinister effigies that warp scenes from the New Testament. Amidst the bitter cold, Harrison pursues a killer who is seeking long-awaited vengeance against members of the church for a sin that has festered for decades. With a lead investigator who is less than co-operative and suspicion hurriedly thrown upon vulnerable members of the community, Harrison can't shake the feeling that something deeper and darker, linked to his own family's mysterious past, is hiding below the surface of this investigation. Can Harrison solve these murders before the killer claims their next victim? And does that victim even deserve to be saved? An addictive crime thriller, perfect for fans of Rachel McLean, Rachel Abbott and Angela Marsons. This book was previously published under the title Winter Fires by Gwyn GB.
